Llanharan's First Lady! - 11/07/2010
Diane Pritchard made history at our AGM last week when she became the first ever female member to have the honour of Life Membership conferred on her. The coveted title is awarded to members who have voluntarily served the club with distinction over many years, and Diane certainly qualifies for that having first become involved with the ladies’ committee when late husband Roy was a player over half a century ago. Said chairman Adrian Tattersall: “Her work for this club has been amazing. She is still actively involved for the Supporters’ Club, of which she was a founder member. On match days she can be found cheerfully selling raffle tickets or helping out in the club shop while every week she runs the bingo. We were clearly breaking the mould in deciding on a woman for this honour but in Diane’s case it was fully deserved and justified.” A new position of club Life Patron was also created, Morgan Davey becoming the first to have the prestigious status conferred on him. “Mog”, as he is popularly known, stood down as president after nine years at the helm. He is a past chairman and captain of the club and remains a faithful supporter of the team he first played for as a teenager over sixty years ago. His place as president is taken by Howard Perkins who was unanimously elected. Howard too is a former player and chairman whose involvement goes back to the 1940s.
