Superiority eventually Shows  - 10/04/2010 - YSTRAD RHONDDA

SWALEC ONE EAST
LLANHARAN 46 YSTRAD RHONDDA 12 (HT 10-6)
It was a long time coming, but after surviving a string of penalties against them at the breakdown and a valiant Ystrad effort, Llanharan’s superiority eventually established itself with a six tries to nil victory that brought a bonus point and moved the side back into third place in Swalec One East.
After 55 minutes the lead for the home side was just 13-12, Mathew Hutchings’ four penalties giving the visitors unexpected hope after they had failed to take advantage of Glen Holloway’s first half yellow card.
It was mixed half for Holloway who also had the pleasure of the only try in that opening forty minutes, finishing off with a try after Codey Rees’s break had been well taken on by Justin Jones, an ever present influence all round the field.
At half time Llanharan led by just 10-6, constantly frustrated by the odd error that undermined their overall dominance, but as play progressed so the tries began to flow.
Lee Thorne’s power took him to within inches of the line, for Aled Llewellyn to force his w ay over for his team’s second.
Excellent support work by outstanding prop Aled Richards allowed left wing Paul Adams to squeeze in at the corner and then an orgy of attacking play ended when Aarron Pinches finished off from Holloways’ pass.
The closing stages saw Thorne make no mistakes when set free on the right for two touch downs, the second very much assisted by an excellent tackle and turn over by skipper Gareth Edwards.
Outside half Codey Rees moved steadily towards the 200 mark for the season with four conversions and two penalties while replacement Wayne Jervis had the satisfaction of converting the fifth try against the team he spent two successful seasons with.
On Saturday, Llanharan travel to reigning champions Blackwood hoping to repeat the 21-16 win of early season.
