Llan win match crucial to both sides - 24/04/2010 - BEDDAU
BEDDAU 10 LLANHARAN 24 (7-5) This was a crucial match for both sides, Beddau desperate to escape relegation and Llanharan looking for maximum points in their pursuit of UWIC at the opposite end of the table. And the home team’s determination was certainly evident as they gave the Dairymen a huge battle before gradually succumbing in the second half. Llanharan in fact rubbed salt in the wounds as a Lee Thorne blasted his way over in typical style for a last move try that Codey Rees converted to clinch a bonus point But Beddau hopes had been raised by Lewis Egal’s opening try converted by Steve Robinson. Gareth Edwards’ men hit back with Lee Thorne’s first try but a Robinson penalty in the second half again motivated Robert Downes’ side as they led 10-5. However, with nine straight wins under their belts, the visitors certainly weren’t ready to succumb and showed their mettle by picking up the scores that nailed yet another victory and ensured the spectre of the drop still surrounded the Mount Pleasant outfit. Glen Holloway was at the heart of the two scores that put Llanharan on the way to success, Dai Atkins and Paul Adams touching down and Codey Rees converting one. Particularly satisfying for the coaches was the performance of a revamped back row of Davies, Llewellyn and Carey who worked magnificently as a unit throughout. Llanharan: E.Foils, L.Thorne, D.Atkins, A.Pinches, P.Adams, C.Rees, G.Holloway, J.Greenfield (E.Rees 70), A.Griffin, A.Richards (M.Phillips75), G.Edwards (Capt.) J.Connors, L.Davies, A.Llewellyn B.Carey. Llanharan tries – L.Thorne 2, D.Atkins, P.Adams. Cons 2 – C.Rees Beddau try – Lewis Egal. Con and pen – Steve Robinson.
