Seconds sign off in Style - 10/04/2010 - Pencoed (L)
Pencoed Seconds 19 Llanharan Seconds 31 Crowned champions Llanharan finished their league programme in style with a good win at neighbours Pencoed. The home club, bolstered by a sprinkling of senior players from its inactive 1st XV, got off to a good start, taking a 10-0 lead and remained competitive throughout. However when the visitors got their game together their attacking prowess with backs and forwards interpassing well brought tries. Three quarters John Howe, Elia Pellegrotti and Paul Williams crossed the line and the experienced Greg Jones added sixteen points with two conversions and four penalties. The game marked a notable return to Llanharan action for back row Neil Lewis who has been plagued with a serious hand injury since signing from Cardiff at the start of the season. The number eight forward was an ever present influence during Llanharan’s year in the premiership and his display showed that he will be decided asset to the playing resources. Skipper Paul Winter was another to show up well, giving a typically committed performance at hooker while former youth star Dan Smith, on university vacation, also did well.
