Seconds fail in cup bid - 08/05/2010 - Bridgend Ath - Enoch Lewis Cup Final at Maesteg
ENOCH LEWIS MID GLAM CUP FINAL At Maesteg Bridgend Ath Seconds 32 Llanharan Seconds 18 Llanharan Seconds failed to add the Enoch Lewis Mid Glam cup to the league title already in their grasp as Bridgend Athletic ended worthy winners in this final at Maesteg. They battled well to lead 13-12 at half time, but the Bridgend side proved adept at maximising scoring opportunities from Llanharan breakdowns, two of their tries coming from such scenarios. The Dairymen second string had scored a first half try as Elia Pellegrotti made a sparkling 50 metres run for a try, Lloyd Thomas converting and landing two penalties. However, although their backs gave glimpses of match winning potential, they were unable to get sufficient ball and their only consolation as the Athletic ruled the roost after half time was a late try from Nikki Allen as they worked the blind side effectively. Even so, Paul Winter’s men and coaches Wayne Jervis and Mel Pring, assisted by Ian Davies can reflect with some satisfaction on a campaign that brought a league championship and a cup final appearance.
