Youth's Try Salvo - 27/03/2010 - Pentyrch (L)
PENTYRCH YOUTH 11 LLANHARAN YOUTH 59 REPORT BY JEFF PICK, COACH After suffering 2 consecutive defeats it was important to get a win under our belts. Going into this league game we knew the league title is very much in our own hands if we could win our final 3 league games, but Pentyrch had given us a real test at home with ourselves narrowly winning. Also with a 2 week lay-off we had a chance to get some of our injured players fit and back playing so going up to Pentyrch the boys were in a determined mood to get a result. And what a result we achieved with a nine try salvo that blew the opposition away. From the start playing into a strong wind it was very much about keeping possession and using our strong ball carriers to get us field position. Our back row and centres made some telling runs and it wasn’t long before we got the try fest going, captain Zach O’Driscoll leading from the front and smashing over to give us the lead. Chris Williams slotted over his 1st of 7 conversions in an impressive goal kicking display. With the line-out and scrum producing quality ball the next try came straight off the training ground with our centre Rhydian Worgan slicing open the midfield to send in fellow centre Paul Songhurst for an impressive try. We continued to dominate play and took a 22-6 lead into half time and turned around with the wind at our backs. In the second half the boys came off the bench to give us a real boost and we went on to finish with a 59-11 result. Our biggest win of the season to date. Further try scorers were wing replacement Alex Hughes 2 ,scrum half replacement Dan Burton, flanker Jordan Jones, prop Sam Lllewelyn, second row James Langdon and full back Keegan Rees. Everybody involved with the youth would like to congratulate Harley Thomson on winning his Welsh under 18 cap last week against Scotland.
