YOUNG DAIRYMEN MILK OCCASION!

U7’S v ABERCWMBOI

The U7’s were in the privileged position of playing on the Dairyfield for mothering Sunday. In the dry and fresh conditions, the team were not going to disappoint their mums today. It was agreed with the visitors to play 4 ten minute games, to allow all the boys to have a good run.

Game 1 -U7 5 V 1 Visitors.

The young Dairymen started the morning with a bang, and it was quite obvious that the boys wanted to throw the ball around, and they did not disappoint. In a fast and furious game the boys ran from deep and were able to put together a string of slick passes. Very quickly the likes of Cody to name one was ghosting through the opposition and running the length of the field, well done Cody. Very quickly all the boys were in on the attack and tries were coming thick and fast.

Game 2- U7 2 V 0 Visitors.

After the short break, and some fresh legs the scene was set for BaaBas style rugby. The new faces soon got into the swing of the game and very quickly Ashton and Evan were darting through the visitors defence like Shane Williams in his heyday! The team also did not let themselves down in defence either; by the end of game 2 the plucky visitors had only crossed the home line once. A great team effort against a good side.

Game 3 -U7 7 V 5 Visitors.

In the third game the young Dairymen continued in the same vein and attacked from all corners of the field, with the pressure never relenting for the visitors. The young Abercwmboi side sparked into life and very quickly got into the flow of running rugby which was aided by some great refereeing, and managed to score 5 classy tries themselves. Big praise to Owen for being unlucky not to get his first try, next time Owen! Also Gabe using his pace to score a brace of tries, great effort!

Game 4- U7 5 V 4 Visitors.

In the final game, with a quick change of faces the scene was set for Abercwmboi to sneak a win away from home. In a hotly contested game where both sides kept their foot on the gas, it was always going to be tight. The Dairymen tagged like crazy and kept Abercwmboi at bay, look out Shaun Edwards! Our silky tries came from Lewis Ashton, Scott, Devon and finally scoring his first try, Tomos. Well done to all of you! This final game was one of toughest fixtures of the season so far in a game where defence and tagging was paramount to the victory.

The boys played with great commitment and enthusiasm, and once again should be very proud of themselves. Great work team!

Also, huge thanks to coaches, parents and supporters for your continued help and support. Finally thanks to the club for allowing us the use of the Dairyfield for the game this morning.

Try scores- Scott Anderson 5 Ashton Gill 1, Evan Benjamin 3, Gabe McCallum 3, Lewis Williams 2, Harrison Richards 2, Devon Austin 1, Tomos Beddoes 1,and Cody Edwards 1.
